   DEAR MEMBERS - WE NEED YOU TO HELP OUR CHAPTER BY LEADING EVENTS.   
HERE ARE SOME OPPORTUNITIES FOR YOU TO GET INVOLVED.  YOU PROVIDE THE  
LEADERSHIP, WE PROVIDE THE TRAINING.  PLEASE JOIN US IF YOU CAN....

   SAT., NOVEMBER 3. CHAPTER LEADERSHIP TRAINING. Status: Open.  
Calling all potential leaders and co-leaders. Do you have a favorite  
spot you would like to share? Then join us for our leadership training  
program. Did you know all of our activies are organized by volunteer  
leaders? Consider becoming a leader and sharing your favorite places.  
This one day class is targeted for those who would like to lead local  
single day activities such as hikes, walks, bike rides, ski trips and  
paddling. We will cover topics such as planning and running a trip,  
group dynamics and other key leadership topics. Location: Riverbend  
Farm, Uxbridge, MA. Space is limited, register by Oct 26th. Leader:

   SAT., NOVEMBER 10. CHAPTER YOUTH PROGRAM TRAINING. Status: Open. If  
you'd like to help make a difference in the life of a child ages 6-18,  
by leading hikes other or activities for youth organizations and  
schools, CYP Training is required. Class is offered Saturday, November  
10th, 9am to 3pm in Southbridge, MA. Leader: Deb Phaup,

   SAT-SUN., NOVEMBER 17-18., SOLO WILDERNESS FIRST AID. Status: Open.  
Learn how to manage an emergency in the backcountry from qualified  
Solo instructors. This comprehensive two day course at Camp Harrington  
in Boylston, MA covers standard emergency care with an emphasis on  
backcountry long-term care and evacuation. Fees incl., course

   SAT., DECEMBER 8. WINTER BACKPACKING PROGRAM. Status: Open. Been  
thinking about pushing your outdoor abilities to camping during the  
winter? You may be surprised that it doesn't mean you are cold. Learn  
how with the course on winter camping. You should have some experience  
with winter hiking or other winter sports. We will review clothing,  
equipment, food and cooking, backpacking techniques, trip planning.  
Also, where to invest in equipment and where to save money. 1-4 PM

   CO-LEADER WANTED:  JAN. MLK WEEKEND AT SHAPLEIGH BUNK HOUSE AND  
ZEALAND FALLS HUT.  Full winter gear and winter hiking experience
