5:45 sharp from Rockies Ace Hardware, 261 W. Main (Rt.20)  
Northborough. Fourteen miles at brisk pace to beat the dark. No

   FRI-SUN., SEPTEMBER 14-16., VERMONT PADDLING WEEKEND. Status: Open.  
Sept. 14 - 16 - Camp for two nights at Wilgus State Park in Ascutney  
Vt.(approx. 2 hrs. from Worcester). Enjoy a full day of paddling on  
the Connecticut River from Sumner Falls back to the campground (14  
miles). It's a beautiful state park with large camp sites along the  
Connecticut River. Centrally located bathhouse with toilets and hot  
showers. Canoe and kayak rentals available. Cost includes 2 breakfasts  
and a cookout/potluck dinner on Saturday night. Please contact

at NOON in first parking lot at Windblown X-C Ski Area on Rte 123, New  
Ipswich, N.H. Hike south over Temple Mtn. range-look for stone  
furniture- and back to Windblown, about 7m. No registration required.

   SUN., SEPTEMBER 16. JUSTICE HILL. Status: Open. Intermediate (12-13  
mph)ride thru scenic hills and vales of Sterling, Princeton, Holden.

   SUN., SEPTEMBER 16. NATURE PHOTOGRAPHY HIKE. Status: Open. Photo  
hike at Crow Hill in Leominster State Forest. Photograph the rock  
climbers from the trails below, or follow the MidState trail to the  
top of the cliffs for great views of the pond and local hills. Wear  
sturdy shoes, sunscreen and bugspray. Bring water, snacks, your  
camera, a windbreaker, and hiking sticks if you plan to climb trails  
around the cliffs. Cliffs range between 20-110 feet in height. Cracks,  
slabs, steep faces, bouldering, this place has it all! From boston  
take Route 2 west. Take exit 28, then turn left onto Route 31 south in  
Leominster. Go about 2 miles and park on left at pond or further south

a fun day on the East Bay Bike Path beginner ride 14.5 miles one way,

   MON., SEPTEMBER 17. CPR AND FIRST AID TRAINING. Status: Open. CPR  
and First Aid training is required for AMC Chapter Youth Program  
Leaders and a useful skill for personal, professional and recreational  
activities. A class is being offered on Monday, September 17th,  
6-10pm, by "Safety Trainers" at the National Safety Council in West  
Boylston. Certification is for 2 years. Cost is $55 for AMC members.

a.m. at Midstate parking lot on Rte 119 by Mount Watatic in  
Ashburnham. From intersection with Rte 101, take Rte 119 west 1.6  
miles (opposite Pierce Rd). Wapack Trail south over Barrett Mtn. and  
back to Watatic, about 9m. Bring lunch! No registration required.

Street Park in cooperation with the Great Worcester Land Trust

Young Members[4]. Meet @ 6:30 p.m. for a leisurely walk in Douglas  
State Forest. Directions on website (see below). Woodlands &  
swamplands abound (so can bugs, so please bring spray). This park  
borders both RI & CT, though we'll only be in those states if we're

Status: Open. We need YOU! 3RD Annual AMC Worcester Team Triathlon.  
You are invited to run, paddle, and cycle through one of the most  
beautiful and historic sections of New England - the Blackstone River  
Valley. Please join us as an AMC Worcester Team Member for the  
Blackstone Valley's Fall Classic Triathlon - the Greenway Challenge.  
We especially need RUNNERS who can complete 6 miles and be able to  
continue to enjoy the day with the rest of the team. Our team is in

   PROGRAMS AND EVENTS:

   SUN., NOVEMBER 4-DECEMBER 23. YOGA. Status: Open. Yoga for Fitness:  
Sundays, 10-11 am. In this series of eight one-hour classes, we'll use  
yoga to improve our strength, balance, flexibility, and mental  
clarity. This fitness-centric style of yoga is adaptable and suitable  
to most abilities. Class size is limited. Location: YMCA Camp  
Harrington, West Boylston MA. A one-time fee of $25 for will be

Open. Join us for another beautiful fall weekend at the Maine House on  
the shore of lake Christopher. Trip includes three night's lodging  
(bed linens provided), three breakfasts and lunches and two dinners.  
$150 pp. Cozy couples rooms and comfy bunks. Activities include hikng  
a 4000 footer, and bike rides 40 miles one day and 50-80 miles the

   FRI-MON., OCTOBER 12-14., AMC FALL GATHERING AT THE HIGHLAND CENTER  
IN CRAWFORD NOTCH. Status: Open. Hikes and programs all weekend with  
AMC Adventure Guides and volunteer leaders, technical climbs,  
sightseeing, Club-wide meetings, equipment consignment shop and a  
Saturday evening performance by Sha Riordan of "Up to the Mountains".

   Up to the Mountains is a one-woman show written & performed by Sha  
Riordan which explores the lives & times of women who pioneered and  
settled the White Mountains. The stories of these pioneer women are  
told by a special guest from the past, Maggie Doyle, a fictitious  
Irish immigrant & hired girl to Dolly & Hayes Copp for 28 years.  
Maggie takes us back to the fateful November night in 1881 when Dolly  
& Hayes celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. She weaves comedy,  
drama, history, romance and juicy gossip to tell the stories of Dolly  
& other White Mountain women pioneers. Sha Riordan, a Theatre Arts  
teacher in West Newbury, MA, has worked for over 25 years in  
performing arts education and has given several performances for AMC  
audiences. She is also an active AMC info volunteer, often found at  
the Pinkham Notch Visitor Center or the Hermit Lake Shelter."
