Hi Folks: Here are some big events coming your way worth sharing.
Join us for dinner at our chapter meeting this Wed. as all are
welcome. Support our AMC Greenway Challenge team this Saturday and
attend the festivities at the finish line. Attend the Mass Outdoor
Expo. Sunday. Reserve early for the Music and Mountains house concert
by recording artist Andrew McKnight. Sponsor a volunteer for our
volunteer of the month drawing. Send a short paragraph describing an
AMCer hard at work to barbaradyer at hotmail.com[1] by Wed. noon.
Special thanks to all who attended Saturday's Urban Park Cleanup
Series at Tacoma Park. We had a great turnout with our partnerships
of various WR county coalitions to protect open space. We appreciate
your Worcester Chapter support so come join the fun!!
WED., SEPTEMBER 26. WR CHAPTER MEETING-LAST WED. OF THE MONTH.
Status: Open. Join the Worcester Chapter Team of volunteers for a
planning session for the chapter initiatives. New members especially
welcome to get involved. Volunteers and leaders are always needed. If
you would like to learn more about how you can volunteer for the
largest regional conservation, education and recreation organization,
please join us for dinner and our monthly meetings every last Wed. of

SAT., SEPTEMBER 29. 3RD ANNUAL WORCESTER TEAM GREENWAY CHALLENGE.
Biking. Status: Open. We need YOU! 3RD Annual AMC Worcester Team
Triathlon. You are invited to run, paddle, and cycle through one of
the most beautiful and historic sections of New England - the
Blackstone River Valley. Please join us as an AMC Worcester Team
Member for the Blackstone Valley's Fall Classic Triathlon - the
Greenway Challenge. We especially need RUNNERS who can complete 6
miles and be able to continue to enjoy the day with the rest of the
team. Our team is in the Recreational Division. Want a day with a lot

SAT., SEPTEMBER 29. MIDSTATE TRAIL SERIES #13. Status: Open. 9am.
at trail crossing at Rte 12 in Ashburnham. From Rte 12 in Fitchburg,
head north toward Ashburnham for 4.9m, watch for corner of Jewell Hill
Road on right w/ traffic island. Hike south over Fisher Hill and Mount
Hunger, 6.7m, back to Route 12. No registration required. Leader: Toby

SUN., SEPTEMBER 30. MASS OUTDOOR EXPO-STURBRIDGE. Status: Open. A
Celebration of Outdoor Skills, Nature, Art & Animals for the Whole
Family! No Admission or Parking Fees. We are especially interested in
creating opportunities for young people to try out new outdoor skills,
learn about wildlife and re-connect with their families in the great
outdoors. Location: Sturbridge - Hamilton Rod and Gun Club off New
Boston Rd. Visit our AMC booth between 9-4 at Wells State Park for
guided hourly hikes. Facts About Wildlife & Nature Society (FAWNS) is
a nonprofit educational organization founded in 1998 out of concern
for the future of wildlife, people and their relationship to the

SUN., SEPTEMBER 30. WEST BROOKFIELD-QUABBIN FOLIAGE RIDE. Biking.
Status: Open. Interm., 35 miles, some hills. This should be close to
peak foliage season! Ride backroads of Brookfield, New Braintree, Ware
and Hardwick, over the only covered bridge in Central MA.Bring a light
picnic lunch, as we plan to stop at Quabbin reservoir. Leader: John

SUN., OCTOBER 21. MUSIC AND MOUNTAINS. Status: Open. Join us for an
intimate evening with singer/songwriter Andrew McKnight, an AMC
favorite. He revels in Appalachian history and sings songs encouraging
preservation of this great nation of ours. "With a voice reminiscent
of Don McLean, McKnight traverses from old-time Appalachian tunes to
contemporary folk and blues, all backed up by his dead-on guitar
playing" - The Boston Globe. Since permanently leaving his corporate
environmental engineering career in 1996, the award-winning folk and
Americana singer/songwriter and Falling Mountain recording artist has
traced a musical journey of nearly half a million miles of blue
highways and small towns nationwide, and earned him a wealth of
critical acclaim and enthusiastic fan response for his four CDs and
captivating performances. Register with leader. Cost $10 for members
and $12 non-members. Limited seating in cozy atmosphere at YMCA lodge
in Boylston. Bring a potluck to share. Event begins at 6:00 p.m.
