*HI Ymers!  I just wanted to remind everyone about the upcoming event
celebrating another wonderful year of the Worcester AMC!  Please get in
those registration forms today!  Tim, Kristen, Jen D, Julie, & Justin are

*Worcester Chapter Annual Meeting & Social* Join the Worcester Chapter on
Saturday, November 17th for our annual bash with dinner at The Manor Banquet
Hall followed by our brief annual meeting and dancing to The Insiders. Last
year was a huge success so don't delay this year and join the fun. All are
welcome. Registration required w/downloaded form. Members cost $25 incl.
dinner/dancing. $30 non-member. Annual meeting and social - free. Time 6:00
- 11:00 p.m. Make non-refundable check payable to AMC Worcester Chapter. The
Insiders are a six-piece band with a unique, full sound. Featuring sax,
keyboards, guitar, drums, bass, vocals, who specialize in fun, danceable
covers of songs from the 60s to the present. Send in your registration form

Other happenings in Worcester AMC:  Want to become a local leader?  Please
join us on November 3rd to learn how!  Also coming up....winter hiking
courses to lure AMCers out of their homes during the winter too!  No need to
stop when the snow flies!

*Sat., November 3. Chapter Leadership Training. *Status: Open. Calling all
potential leaders and co-leaders. Do you have a favorite spot you would like
to share? Then join us for our leadership training program. Did you know all
of our activities are organized by volunteer leaders? Consider becoming a
leader and sharing your favorite places. This one day class is targeted for
those who would like to lead local single day activities such as hikes,
walks, bike rides, ski trips and paddling. We will cover topics such as
planning and running a trip, group dynamics and other key leadership topics.
Location: Riverbend Farm, Uxbridge, MA. Space is limited, register by Oct

*Sat. November 10, 1-4 PM. Winter Hiking* Learn about how to stay
comfortable in any weather. Experience the magic of hiking the mountains
during the winter months. This afternoon course will review clothing,
equipment, safety, trip planning, and nutrition. Scheduled follow-up hikes
will allow you to put your new found knowledge to the test. Some 3-season

*Thursday November 29th, 6:30-9:00 PM  Pizza & Gear!*  Join YM leaders &
experienced winter hikers on what gear you need and where to buy....info

*December 8. Winter Backpacking Program. *Status: Open. Been thinking about
pushing your outdoor abilities to camping during the winter? You may be
surprised that it doesn't mean you are cold. Learn how with the course on
winter camping. You should have some experience with winter hiking or other
winter sports. We will review clothing, equipment, food and cooking,
backpacking techniques, trip planning. Also, where to invest in equipment
and where to save money. 1-4 PM Location to be determined. No registration

*Fri Oct 26 Full Moon Hike--Wachusett Mt   *Come join us for a full moon
hike up Wachusett Mt....if weather cooperates, we might see the moon! Meet
at the Visitor's Center (outside the gate as it is closed) at 7 PM. Bring
warm clothes for the summit (windproof jacket, hat, gloves, etc.), a
headlamp, snack & water, and wear sturdy shoes. You'll be asked to sign a
waiver as with all AMC trips (for info, see:
http://www.outdoors.org/pdf/upload/volrelease.pdf). Please e-mail the leader
with any questions. Registration required to assess interest. Optional
social afterwards. Rain will most likely cancel.
