Hi YMers!

Sorry for the two e-mails but I know many of you do not attend the meetings
and I want to be sure you get this in case you don't read the meeting e-mail
or the accompanying agenda.

I hope everyone had a wonderful New Year!  We've already started the year
off right--GREAT party at my house this past Friday and a day hike yesterday
led by Tim Smith, the YM hiking chair.

I did want to encourage anyone interested or considering a weekend winter
hiking trip to NH to please contact the appropriate person sooner than later
for a few reasons.  First, these trips can fill quickly due to the limit.
Second, leaders/coleaders voluntarily organize this event, which involves
reserving bunks, etc.  Bunks can fill up quickly at bunkhouses so trying to
join last minute can result in you merely not getting a bunk, thus, no trip
for you.  If you are unsure about experience, gear, etc., please contact the
leader/coleader.  Together, we can help decide if the trip is in fact
appropriate for you and if you are ready.

So far, trips tend to be a mix of a longer day hike on Saturday and a
shorter one on Sunday.  Evenings typically include great company, food, and
sometimes games too if we aren't too tired!  I love these winter trips as
they help make winter more enjoyable.  Sights are gorgeous too!

Hope to see you get out there this winter!  Here's the weekend trips we have
so far:

 Fri–Sun Jan 18–20 Slip Sliding Away in the Whites Join me on an adventure
in the whites. We will slip sliding our way up Mt. Tecumseh in Waterville
Valley a good chance for those looking to try winter hiking in the White
Mountains. We will end the weekend on by hiking the Welsh-Dickey Loop. We
will be staying in a hostel in Twin Mountain NH. Winter experience

Fri–Sun Feb 8–10 Imps in the Whites Join me in another winter hiking
adventure in the White Mountains. This time we will be hiking Mt. Moriah on
Saturday (8.4 miles) from Gorham and Mt. Imp on Sunday. We will be staying
at a hostel in Gorham NH. Winter hiking experience needed. Please contact me

Fri–Sun Feb 22–24 A White-faced Hedgehog? Come celebrate George Washington's
Birthday by enjoying the simple things in life....good friends, great
hiking, and a fun time for all! We'll be staying the weekend in a lovely
bunkhouse in N.Conway, hiking Whiteface Mountain, having a wonderful home
cooked meal (by all of us!) Saturday night, a nice Sunday breakfast, and
wrapping up the wondrous winter weekend with a nice snowshoe up Hedgehog.
