Hi Ymers, I have a few things to share....

1. Want to increase knowledge about hiking? Have friends who might be
hesitant to get into it because they don't know where to start? Check out
the workshop AMC is offering to kick off 3-season hiking. Participants will
be prioritized for the graduated hiking series that will offer 1 hike a
month starting with relatively flat or rolling hills and ending with the
ultimate Mt. Washington. Please share with others.

2. AMC has done an Adopt-a-Park series with the kick off on Earth day. We
are looking for someone to coordinate the day, which could include utilizing
AMC resources for advertising within the AMC and in the community. This was
a great turnout last year. Key people included local senators & other
community officials, outing clubs from local colleges (potential future
YMers), and of course, AMCers. Anyone interested in putting this day
together (you can certainly communicate with last year's organizer who can't
do it this year), please contact me. Please only do so if you are
whole-heartedly committed and want to do this! Having a YMer coordinate can
increase YMer presence and it can be a nice resume builder too! Who doesn't
like someone who volunteered to pick up a city park????

3. Annual Picnic for AMC Worcester Chapter is May 18th at Hopkinton State
Park. We hope to have some YM events and YM led events. Interested? Let
me know. Should be a great time and hopefully weather cooperates this
year. Some plans besides a well done potluck of great food is a gear sale,
swap, & give-a-way! This should be really cool!

4. Anyone want to coordinate a social to see the soon-to-be released film,
Blindsight? Opening night is March 14th at Landmark Kendall Square in
Cambridge, MA. Anyone can do this, no need to be a leader. If you can
advertise outside of AMC in addition to our website (we can help you if you
can't post), that'd be key because with 25+ you can get admission of only
$6.25 v. general admission of $9.25. Can't recruit 25 people? Still might
be a flick worth paying for....it's about a blind mountaineer leading a
group of blind Tibetan children in the Himalayans. Wow.
Well everyone, Have a great weekend! Jen

 Jim and Jen,
